Lodge Lore

December 2020

Hello:

As this difficult year comes to an end, we want to wish you all a happy and joyous holiday season. Once again, we’ve decorated the entire building with festive holiday décor, including the beautiful collection of themed trees from the Olympic Medical Center’s annual Festival of Trees. We have been proud supporters of this Festival for the past 16 years, and have carefully preserved these trees for display throughout The Lodge during the holiday season.

Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 we had to cancel our annual Holiday Open House celebration, so this year’s tree has been donated to the Boys and Girls Club for the benefit and enjoyment of the general community.

As I mentioned in our October issue , we remain cautiously optimistic as vaccines are coming soon but continue to stress the importance of adhering to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines of mask-wearing, hand-washing and social distancing.

Even though we are operating in a difficult environment, we continue to offer top quality services, for example our chef prepared a special Thanksgiving meal that was delivered to each resident’s apartment with a special individual appetizer tray. So, whether the meals are served in a socially distanced way in our Olympic Dining Room or personally delivered to your door the food is always of gourmet quality.

We have creatively figured out how to offer the following activities:

  • Spanish language, drawing, and meditation classes
  • Active reading and movie groups
  • Lending library
  • Various technology based activities, including ZOOM

While the pandemic has temporarily limited a number of activities, it’s fair to say that it has also brought many of us closer together. Unfortunately, some of our services have been temporarily curtailed.

  • The Hair and Nail Salon is available to residents only
  • The Massage and Chiropractic services are no longer available.
  • The Bistro is closed until further notice.
  • Our overnight Bed and Breakfast is unavailable until further notice.
  • We are eager to resume our on-site services as permitted.

While we are limited in our ability to do on-site tours at the moment, our newly completed virtual video tours are now available on our home page. We invite you to view them, check out our photo tour and be sure to call us with your questions.

Sincerely,

Michelle Headrick
