Sunny Sequim a perfect destination

local-areaSurrounded by the majestic Olympic Peninsula and the beautiful Strait of Juan de Fuca, it’s no wonder that Sequim is regularly named one of the best places in the nation to retire. It has a small-town feeling with big-city amenities. It also boasts the best weather in Western Washington. Sequim is considered one of the most senior-friendly cities in the world! Live in the beauty of it all.

Sequim is located only 30 minutes from the Victoria Ferry, 40 minutes from Hurricane Ridge, an hour and a half from the Olympic rainforest and two hours from Seattle. It is in the Greater Puget Sound area and offers quick access if special services are needed, though distant enough to maintain a peaceful, tranquil lifestyle.

Climate

local-servicesSequim is located in the “rain shadow” of the Olympic Mountains. The weather in Sequim is noticeably dryer and milder than the rest of Western Washington. Sequim averages over 300 days a year with at least some sunshine and only 16 inches of annual rainfall. While Seattle residents look enviously at the “blue hole” over the Peninsula, we live under it. Because of the protection of the mountains, when our skies are cloudy most of our neighbors are getting soaked!

Sequim Lavender Festival

In addition to the region’s natural beauty, for over 20 years, the Sequim area has celebrated its magnificent fields of lavender with the world-famous Sequim Lavender Festival, a three-day event that draws visitors from all over the world.
